Building a Gender-Responsive Tech Platform

While the beauty industry is a significant employer of women across Nepal, it has long operated in the informal economy with limited access to capital, training, or career growth. Parlor Sewa is flipping that narrative. With over 550 women trained and more than 100 active beauticians offering services through the platform, Parlor Sewa is not just painting nails, it’s painting a new picture of what inclusive, sustainable entrepreneurship can look like in Nepal by digitizing and formalizing a sector to deliver agency, income, and dignity to hundreds of women.

But this goes beyond numbers. Parlor Sewa is designed with a gender lens - building technology and systems that actively remove barriers to participation and mobility for women. From safe and verified bookings to skill-building and career tracking, the platform is creating a supportive ecosystem where women can grow from trainees to micro-entrepreneurs on their own terms.

Tech-Enabled Growth, Backed by NIIC 2

With the backing of NIIC 2, Parlor Sewa is taking a decisive step forward-launching a dedicated mobile application that will streamline bookings, payments, scheduling, and backend logistics. This app is more than a convenience-it’s the infrastructure for scale, quality control, and geographic expansion.

The app will enable:

• End-to-end digital booking and service management
• Transparent ratings and performance tracking for service providers
• Geo-enabled expansion into new cities and peri-urban areas
• Automated onboarding and digital training pathways for new beauticians
