Unlocking Green Capital for Climate Impact: Insights from the ICFA Forum

One to Watch recently joined the International Climate Finance Accelerator (ICFA) Forum in Luxembourg, where our founder, Willem Grimminck, hosted an impactful workshop on "Unlocking Green Capital through Blended Finance." This event brought together global leaders, experts, and impact investors focused on channeling capital toward climate resilience, especially in emerging markets.

The ICFA Forum featured a variety of interactive sessions tackling urgent themes in climate finance, from deep tech and semiconductor investment to funds structuration in Luxembourg. Key discussions revolved around scaling private capital in non-OECD countries, funding biodiversity and nature conservation, and leveraging women’s roles in climate resilience. These sessions offered a platform for in-depth knowledge exchange, equipping attendees with insights to address the challenges of sustainable development.

During his workshop, Willem emphasized One to Watch’s mission of mobilizing green capital to drive transformative change in regions heavily impacted by climate change. He highlighted how Blended Finance models—combining public, private, and philanthropic capital—can efficiently unlock funds and ensure that resources reach the communities facing the greatest climate threats, such as those in Nepal and Bangladesh. His session underscored the importance of designing flexible financing models that prioritize real-world impact over traditional investment mandates.

The event concluded with a keynote by Luxembourg’s Minister of the Environment, Climate, and Biodiversity, Serge Wilmes, echoing the importance of innovative financing to achieve sustainable climate goals.

One to Watch remains committed to deploying green capital where it’s needed most, building resilience, and empowering communities. Together, we’re paving the way for meaningful, measurable impact in climate finance.
